OSU Summer Session '09

Financial Aid

Financial aid is available for summer session on a limited basis and is made available beginning July 1st. The university may assist you with loans and, if possible with grants and federal work-study. Students are required to register for summer classes as soon as possible in order for summer assistance to be offered. Changes in enrollment level may affect your aid eligibility. Summer aid notifications will be sent out after May 31st.

Eligibility requires students to be fully admitted and enrolled at least a half-time in a degree or eligible certificate program. Undergraduate or post baccalaureate students must enroll for a minimum of 6 credit hours. Graduate and professional students must enroll for a minimum of 5 credit hours. Returning students must also be in good academic standing.

To apply for summer aid, you must complete the 2009-10 FAFSA application and respond to the email to be sent to registered summer students asking questions about aid options. If you have not filed the 2009-10 FAFSA you can submit the application online at www.fafsa.ed.gov and list Oregon State University federal code 003210 in order for us to receive the information. You need to allow 4-6 weeks for processing of your aid application. If summer is your only term of attendance, aid applications must be received and completely processed prior to the end of the term.

Financial aid notifications will be sent to registered summer term students via your OSU email account once your 2009-10 aid package has been updated to include summer term assistance. Summer aid packaging will begin after May 31st for registered students with an 2009-10 FAFSA on file at OSU. If you receive aid for summer term, you may look into Work Study opportunities. View OSU's Student Employment page for more information.

Receipt of financial aid assistance is processed through your OSU student billing account. Financial aid funds are paid as a credit to your billing account. Funds in excess of allowable charges, which include tuition and fees, are processed as a refund to the student. For complete details on refund eligibility, contact Student Accounts online or call 541-737-3775.

Short-term emergency loans are made available to students through the OSU Business Affairs office. Visit the Cashiers Office located on the 1st floor of the Kerr Administration Building or call 541-737-2597 for complete details.
