Got a case of the winter blues? Don't worry — summer is right around the corner

The winter wonderland in Corvallis sure was fun and all, but we know you've been dreaming of those warmer days and sunny skies — and all of the unique opportunities summer time at Oregon State brings:

• Flexible class lengths ranging from one to 11 weeks
• Study abroad programs
• In-state tuition for all qualifying students
• On-campus housing options
• And the chance to stay on track for graduation, get ahead in your classes and lighten your course load for next year

Remember, it's never too early to plan for summer, so talk to your academic advisor today and plan on making 2017 your best summer yet.

Heading out of town? Choose from nearly 100 courses delivered online through Oregon State Ecampus, and take advantage of summer term wherever you are.

Here are some important summer dates for you to remember:

April 16: Registration begins
June 19–23: Session 6 – Intersession/One week
June 26–Sept. 8: Session 1 – 11 weeks
June 26–July 21: Session 2 – Four weeks
June 26–Aug. 18: Session 3 – Eight weeks
July 24–Aug. 18: Session 4 – Four weeks
Aug. 21–Sept. 8: Session 5 – Three weeks

Ever wonder what summer is really about? Check out these highlights from last summer at OSU:

• 6,922 students took summer classes

• Top three reasons students enrolled in summer classes
    ◊ Graduate on time
    ◊ Graduate sooner

• 88 percent of students were "very satisfied" or "somewhat satisfied" with their overall Summer Session on-campus academic experience


Natural Resources Leadership Academy
June 18-23 and 26-30

Spend a week or two with internationally renowned faculty and industry leaders studying natural resources issues. These intensive learning experiences will enhance your leadership skills and prepare you to solve complicated natural resources problems.

2017 tracks include:

• Environmental Politics and Policy (PS 575)
• Social Aspects of Sustainable Natural Resources (SNR 520)
• Sustainability Assessment (SUS 514)
• Water Conflict Management (WRP 521)
• Resilient Resource Management (WRP 599)

Win a $200 summer scholarship

We know you work hard to earn your education, and we want to reward you for your efforts. That's why we're offering you a chance to win a $200 scholarship toward campus-based classes in Corvallis or at the Hatfield Marine Science Center during OSU's 2017 summer term.

All you have to do is answer two quick questions to enter. Submissions are accepted online and at the Warm Up to Summer event Feb. 8-9.


Live and study on the Oregon coast

Dig your toes in the sand and immerse yourself in marine biology by taking classes at the OSU Hatfield Marine Science Center on the Oregon coast this summer. Choose from a variety of courses in the Marine and Environmental Studies Program, where you'll gain extensive hands-on experience studying organisms in their natural habitats.

Then, take in the beauty of our sea by living at HMSC. Scholarships are available for on-site housing. This is a Pacific Northwest adventure you don't want to miss.

Welcome to our newest member of the Summer Session team, Marketing Program Manager Ali Duerfeldt, who brings with her an extensive background in higher education. Ali enjoys giving back to students by helping to provide a positive, successful and life-changing college experience.
