Good luck Trek competitors
OSU Summer Session staff wants to wish all those registered for the Trek for Tuition competition the best of luck. The competition will be on May 25 at the MU Quad starting at 3:30 p.m. The first 100 people who registered for the Trek got a spot in the competition. Within two hours of registration opening on April 27, all spots filled.
Trek for Tuition is a new event hosted by OSU Summer Session. The grand-prize winner receives a $2,000 scholarship toward on-campus (Corvallis and Hatfield Marine Science Center), credit courses. Second place gets $1,000 and third place receives $500. The Trek is similar to an old-fashioned scavenger hunt (no amazing athletic ability required). Competitors will have an hour to complete as many challenges as possible.
"I was amazed at the response," said Maurine Powell, program manager for OSU Summer Session. "We wanted to host an event that got attention among students, and offered us an opportunity to share the advantages of taking summer courses at OSU."

Complete a three-course sequence this summer
Can't fit in a full year of Spanish? Just can't coordinate your schedule to take your math requirements? Complete them all over the summer. Summer Session is divided into shorter sessions lasting from one to 11 weeks. Most sequence courses (111/112/113 or 211/212/213) offered in the summer are condensed into three, three-week sessions. This means you can complete a year's worth of classes in less than three months.
Course series available this summer:
- General Chemistry: CH 121/122/123
- General Chemistry: CH 221/222/223
- General Chemistry Lab: CH 261/262/263
- Principles of Biology: BI 211/212/213
- Spanish (1st through 3rd year): SPAN 111/112/113; 211/212/213; or 311/312/313
