OSU Summer Session '08

Housing & Dining

University Housing & Dining Services (UHDS) welcomes you to OSU for Summer Session. We are pleased to provide convenient living and dining accommodations on campus, whether you are attending a short-term seminar, an eight- or 11-week session, or staying at OSU the entire summer.

Residence Halls

Housing and Dining during Summer Session The residence hall scheduled for occupancy for 2008 Summer Session housing is West International Hall, which is situated on the west side of campus. Residents in the Summer Session hall contract on a flexible, weekly basis for a room and meal package.

Double rooms and single rooms are available for Summer Session housing. Single room requests are honored whenever possible on a first-come, first-served basis, so contact UHDS early if you want a single room. All suites in West have a bathroom that is shared with the adjacent room.

Each room has beds, desks, desk chairs, desk lamps, dressers, and wardrobes. The rooms also have a local telephone line and basic cable TV services at no additional cost. You may sign up for long distance services through the University Telecommunications Office. Telephones are not provided. There is also a data jack for high-speed Internet access (10 Mbps) in each residence hall room, and you can sign up for basic online services (email, networks). On each floor there is a kitchenette, and common living space. All residence halls are smoke-free; no smoking is permitted anywhere inside the facilities.

Dining Services

Summer Session meal service operates throughout the regular 11-week session, June 23-September 5. UHDS Dining Dollars are placed on residence hall students' OSU ID cards. The ID may then be used as a debit card for meal access Monday through Friday at Marketplace West and Bing's Café in Weatherford Residential College.

All summer session students will have a meal plan equivalent to the Preferred academic year meal plan, with the option to add money to their cards at any time. The meal plan functions as a debit balance account, essentially a prepaid credit card. The meal plan provides a specified amount of meal credit dollars to “purchase” meals. Meal credit dollars reflect the food cost portion of your room and meal plan package, and are not the total price you pay for the meal plan. Meal plan credit dollars are valid in Marketplace West, Bing's and the convenience store at Arnold Dining Center.
