Email Accounts

All actively admitted OSU students are eligible for a secured Oregon State University (ONID) email account. Having an OSU Network ID (ONID) provides you with the following services:

• Email (username@onid.orst.edu, 200MB per user)
• File storage (1GB per user)
• Personal web pages (including MySQL database access)
• UNIX shell access
• Access to other services (wireless network, Blackboard, ResNet, computer labs, Interlibrary Loan, plus more)

How to Sign Up

To register* for your ONID account, follow these steps:

• Go to the ONID homepage.
• Click on "Sign Up For ONID" in the upper left-hand area of the page.
• Enter your OSU ID# and GAP#, then click "Submit" (your OSU ID# is your 9-digit randomly generated number - not your SSN).
• For security purposes, ONID account creation requires your GAP# be a 6-digit number OTHER than your birth date
• Next screen says: "Welcome Your Name." Read and accept policy statement and click "I agree."
• Set new password. If you choose to WRITE your password down, remember to safeguard it and never give it out to anyone. Scroll down and click "proceed."
• If you have another (personal) email address that you would prefer to use, follow the directions to forward your new ONID email account to your preferred email account. Once complete, incoming email sent to your ONID will be routed to your preferred email account. Ensure the address is typed correctly and is valid.
• Next screen says "Your ONID account has been created." Your new user name will be displayed - WRITE IT DOWN!
• Click "Login to ONID."
• Enter new user name and password, then click "Login." Next screen says "Welcome Your Name."
