Computer labs, operated by Information Services, are available to registered OSU students at no charge for their use.
Student Computing Facilities in the Milne Computing Center has 24 Macintoshes and 92 Windows XP computers. Black-and-white and color printing, scanners, and adaptive technology stations for students with disabilities are also available. Computer-equipped classrooms may also be available when not reserved for classes. The Milne facility is open from 8 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday (8 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the third session), 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday.
Students must have an ONID account to log in to the Milne computers. Read how to sign up for an ONID account on our Email Accounts page, or go directly to the ONID homepage. Registering for an OSU summer class gives you the option to have an Oregon State University email account, which is called your "ONID" address. Each registered student has an individual electronic mail account automatically established. Assistants at the labs are available to help with this process and to provide support to lab users.
Computer Science's Multimedia Computing Lab in Hovland Hall is also available to students for independent use. This facility has Macintosh computers with a full suite of multimedia production software. The Multimedia Lab is open from 8 a.m. to midnight. Lab hours and availability can be viewed at Hovland.
Many colleges and departments provide computer labs for use by their students. Check with your department for information on such labs. Computer network ports are available in all residence hall rooms on campus. Visit ResNet for more information.
The Valley Library also has a number of computer workstations for student use. OSU's wireless network is available in the Valley Library and a growing number of campus buildings. For more information on the network visit Using the Wireless Network and OSU Wireless Network Access.
