A: People of any age and varied educational backgrounds. Some of the most common reasons for taking courses through Summer Session are:

New, high school, future transfer, or visiting students . . .
Summer Session is the perfect time to learn with us, catch up, or get a jump start for fall term. Take a full year's sequence or explore new ideas. At OSU Summer Session, everybody pays in-state fees!

Grad Students . . .
Broaden your experience, meet our faculty, and keep your program moving forward with OSU this summer.

Professionals . . .
Workshops and courses make summer an ideal time to upgrade your professional credentials, collecting university credit while doing so . . . or take your career in a different direction with something new.

Lifelong Learners . . .
No matter what your age, we have many different challenging, interesting, and fun classes and programs to expand your knowledge and stimulate your thinking.

Q: Will I get credit for courses I take through Summer Session?
A: Courses taken through Summer Session are university-level credit courses. Courses successfully completed become a part of your OSU record and, if applicable, count toward a degree upon formal admission. Grad students who decide to seek admission to a specific degree program need to be aware that credits taken in Summer Session may or may not be applicable for that program depending upon the policies of the chosen program or of the graduate school.

Q: Can I transfer my credits to another college or university?
A: In most cases, the answer is yes, but check with your home campus to be sure.

Q: What is available through Summer Session?
A: Many courses, spanning a wide range of interesting subjects, are available through Summer Session. Eligibility requirements for enrolling in courses are the same as for all students, i.e., major restrictions, prerequisites, or instructor approval.

Q: What do I need to submit to register for Summer Session courses?
A: Summer Session requires no formal admission process and has no requirements for entrance. There is an application fee, however. Go to oregonstate.edu/admissions/nondegree/information.html. You will receive an e-mail response within 24 hours. If you have questions, check with the Office of Admissions, 104 Kerr Administration Building, 737-4411. Then, simply follow the web registration instructions.

Q: What is the deadline for registration?
A: Registrations in Summer Session are accepted until the close of registration for each Summer Session term as specified in Important Registration and Related Dates. Because classes fill quickly, students are encouraged to register early so they can take preferred courses. (Registration begins April 12, 2009.)
