Rules, Prizes & Eligibility

Term

The Best of Summer Session Photo Contest begins May 26, 2010, and ends July 31, 2010 at 11:59 PM PST. By submitting an entry, each contestant agrees to the rules of the contest and states that they are 18 years old or older.

Who may enter

You must be 18 or older to upload photos to enter into the contest. Only legal guardians of minors (persons 17 years and younger) may submit and upload photos in which a minor appears. All legal adults are eligible to participate, including current OSU students, new/visiting students, OSU staff/faculty, alumni and members of the community.

What to enter

Photos including people along with the location are encouraged and may be entered in the following contest categories:

1. Best Place to Study
2. Best Place to Hike/Bike/Run
3. Best Place to Grab a Bite
4. Best Weekend Getaway
5. Best Place for Coffee
6. Best Undiscovered Spot in Corvallis
7. Best Date Night Location
8. Benny’s Favorite Hangout (download the Flat Benny cutout PDF to use with this category, if you don’t have a pre-printed version)

Participants may upload up to five (5) photos in each category. Photos entered must be in good taste and will be removed from posting and from the contest if judged inappropriate by OSU Summer Session.

How to enter

Please submit photographs online through our website. We do not accept photographs submitted through the mail or via email. Photographs must be in .jpeg, .jpg, .gif, .png or .bmp format. Files submitted may not be larger than 10 MB (10,240 KB).

All photos become property of Oregon State University Summer Session upon uploading. Uploading your photo designates your entry into the photo contest. Entering photos in the contest waives your right to the photo and any future inspection and/or approval of future use by OSU Summer Session or Oregon State University. Photos entered could subsequently be used in other means of communication (including but not limited to marketing efforts and advertising via Web, print, video, audio or television) by Oregon State University and OSU Summer Session.

Uploading your photo into the Best of Summer Session Photo Contest indicates that you have read and understood the above rules and are knowingly and voluntarily participating in the Best of Summer Session Photo Contest.

Entry deadline

All entries must be received through the OSU Summer Session website by 11:59 PM PST on July 31, 2010.

Judging

Judging will be conducted by the public, starting on August 1, 2010. Public voting will close on August 20, 2010 at at 11:59 PM PST. Eight category winners will be selected, one for each category. The photo with the most votes in each category wins. In the event of a tie, Summer Session staff will decide the winning photo for the category.

Also, a Grand Prize winner, to be decided by Summer Session staff, will be awarded a custom-designed MinoHD Flip Video camcorder. Winners will be announced on August 25, 2010.

Prizes

The winners of each of the eight categories will receive a $50 OSU Bookstore gift card.
